Unproven therapies

Parents will do anything to help their child. Unfortunately, this makes parents vulnerable to a variety of unproven therapies. The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends against the following methods for treating ADHD:

  • Vision therapy
  • Auditory integration therapy
  • Sensory integration training
  • Dietary supplements
  • Megavitamin treatment
  • Herbal, antioxidant, and nootropic treatments
  • Special diets (Evidence-based research shows that ADHD does not improve with elimination diets, sugar-free diets, aspartame-free diets or yeast-free diets.)
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Kinesiology
  • Homeopathy

Ultimately, we know that the only treatment plan that will work for your child and family is one that you and your child believe in, so please let us know your thoughts and concerns as we tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs.
