Alison Benda, M.D.

Dr. Alison Benda knew she wanted to be a doctor when she was 5 years old. Born and raised in Wisconsin, she is thrilled to be in Oregon practicing medicine as a pediatrician. She loves caring for children and supporting families who come to see her and our team at Eugene Pediatric Associates. “I’m so excited to have a really collaborative group that works closely together,” she says.

Education

Dr. Benda earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and conducted her pediatric residency at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Doctor

Dr. Benda is originally from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, a small town in the middle of the state. She began studying medicine to fulfill her childhood dream, but she was never quite sure in which area of medicine she wanted to specialize. Though she enjoyed rotating through each specialty during her studies, one feeling was undeniable.

“Every time I came back to pediatrics, it felt like home,” she says. “This is the place I want to be. It was always working with kids. I love helping children and their families.”

Outdoors Enthusiast

One of her goals was to move west, which led her to Oregon. She loves the scenery and all the outdoor opportunities, including running, swimming, biking, hiking and climbing. She’s a skilled rock climber and mountaineer, having scaled Mount Whitney—the highest peak in the lower 48 states—in California in 2018. She’s also spent time studying in Costa Rica and did some rock climbing in Greece.

Fun Facts

Dr. Brenda’s interests also keep her active indoors. “I have too many hobbies right now,” she says with a laugh. She’s a classically trained violinist, loves to bake, work on craft projects and is “always reading something.”
